Booking a guide
HOW IT WORKSThe CDT serves as an intermediary between agencies and the region''s certified tour guides. It may, under no circumstances, be held responsible for any problems, cancellations or any other dispute resulting from guide services.
We can help you to reserve a guide or you may also reserve yourself by contacting the guides directly. Rates are set each year in partenership with regional guides and each guide agrees to abide by them should he/she be approached via the CDT.
Should the request for guide services be processed by the CDT, a confirmation form will be sent to you detailling the guide''s contact information and the appropriate rates. This confirmation is equivalent to a binding reservation.
A day''s guide service includes a maximum of 9 hours'' presence and a half-day, 4 hours and 30 minutes. Any extra hours will be invoice (refer to rates). A meal allowance is to be added to the daily rate. Should the meal not be taken with the group, this allowance amounts to 20 €.
Should the guide be unable to provide the agreed service, it is his/her responability to find a replacement guide and to contact and inform the client of any such change.
Guide services should be paid directly to the guide.

* Travel expenses: travel expenses are calculated from the guide''s home to the meeting point with the guide (return included). The following scale of charges will apply: less than 10 km: no charge, 10 - 50 km: 30 €, 50 - 100 km: 70 €, over 100 km: 90 €.
The entrance charges to museums and sites as well as the meals are additional and would be booked by you. Calvados Tourism Board being only an intermediary between an agency/a private client and a certified regional guide, it cannot be hold responsible for any disputes, problems, withdrawals etc... resulting from the guided tour and we accept no financial transaction whatsoever.

The guide will state whether VAT is applicable or not.
Available foreign languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Arabe.
As for other languages or in case we would not be able to provide you with a guide, we will directly to incoming agencies (please note that their quotes could be different from ours).
- ½ DAY GUIDED TOUR: in the morning the tour finishes up at 12:30am at the latest / in the afternoon it starts from 1:30pm at the soonest.
- WAITING TIME: forsee 1 hour. Beyond this point, if the guide has not received any information from the client or group, he/she is within his/her rights to leave, understanding thet his/her payment will nevertheless be paid in full.
- IN CASE OF CANCELLATION OF LESS THAN 48 HOURS: the guide should be paid in full (except for travel expenses and meal indemnity). In case of cancellation of less than 14 days: the guide should receive a 20 % indemnity of price of the booked tour.
Methods of payment: to be made directly to the guide, if possible the same day as the visit. If the payment is made via a bank with no intermedairy in France, the Agency/TO etc, is invited to add 31 € (indicative) for the exchange and transaction fees imposed on the guide.
